I have two that are not performing up to PAR. Before I start pulling thing apart to try and clean it out, do you all have a suggestion on getting them to perform like new????

TIA

+1 for vinegar/hot water if its starting to get clogged
~
+1 for replacing them if that does not solve the problem

JP just replace the Diaphragm.

F&S Part #CD-21221 $2.49.

It'll work like new!

I keep 2-3 of these kits on hand and replace them as needed.

Dude I have been looking for that part number for YEARS and have just been replacing the whole units!!!

I would love to do a GB on these for sure to split the shipping!!!
If anyone wants to organize this LMK and we can get it going over on our forums GB threads

I'm in for 4 already!

See that is why I love you guys.....Reefers helping Reefers :)

Ed- that's what I was looking for!

Steve - I am all for it! Let's put it together on that "other" site!

Mark - That was what I used to do when I could not salvage them anymore. But now I have a few of these bad boys running and that would be too expensive!

Everyone.... "GROUP HUG"

Hey Jeff, if you're pushing kalkwasser with your aqualifter make sure to flush the tubing as well. I bought a replacement pump only to find out my tubing was clogged... Now I have two working aqualifters! No biggie, I like redundant systems.

The diaphragm normally is not what goes bad. It simply gets clogged inside. There is no need to replace the diaphragm each time they stop working. Just open it up and clean out the calcium buildup. Its quite easy, it takes at most maybe 5-10 mins.

I was searching Dr F&S and found this part number as well. Google lead me to this thread. Is this all that's needed to fix a broken aqualifter? I've had some that get clogged and continue to run for days until I notice. Then, even after cleaning, the pump runs but doesn't actually do anything. Would these fix this? I've just been tossing them and buying new ones.:hmm6:

I have couple of this aqua lifters!

I have couple of this aqua lifters!

I have a couple of these and they go bad kind of fast or at least they stopped working after couple months! What i did when they went bad, i fixed them up and they worked better then new lol! what i did is i opened them up and inside the chamber you have 3 clear rubber pieces and 3 black pieces that go on top of them! they always fall out of place! So what i did is i put tinly drop of crazy glue before setting the clear part back into place then i put the black part over it and put crazy glue on top of that! once is dry do the other side same way! and there you go! my pump has worked for about 3 years with no problem! i hope this helped out a little!

open your pump and fix the pump! a little crazy glue will make it last couple years with no problem and perform better then new lol!

If anyone was having this problem like me this is what you do.... Theres no need to glue btw..... I suppose it would obviously apply to all pumps air/water/vacuum.... Clean it thoroughly ! .... thats it... mine was pumping air thru both outlets, and i realised they were clogged with sand where the clear n black rubber bits are on the white discs and i hadnt washed them properly. They need to be clog free so air can pass thru the concealed vents..... Just bathe these parts with the rest of the pump in warm water (in your bathroom sink will do)for 20 min rinse then put it back together carefully n voila! Works like new... Enjoy. (and to think i was gonna spend £35 for a new pump sheeesh!)

my diaphragm doesn't look worn/torn at all but my pump still isn't working well and there's no dirt in it. is it possibly the diaphragm still even though it looks normal to me?
