After getting in the shipment of live rocks, what is the best way to cure them?

Do I scrub them really hard? Keep them in a storage tank with the powerhead on with air bubbles and change water often?

Keep it in a vat, tub ect, and keep good flow all around it. Do a water change when the ammonia hits .5 or above. Make sure you keep it at proper temp also. Thats it really, all you need now is time:):) It could takes a few weeks to be fully cured, so make sure you give it the time it needs. Testing the water regularly when let you know when its cured.

How hard do I scrub them?

Ex: Hard enough to rip the skin off your back?

Yes...hard enough to get off all the dirt, detritus, and algae that may be on them. Some rocks may be pretty clean already...others may be filthy...as if they were sitting in a sand bad (which they probably were).

I'd suggest curing them longer than it takes to just get past the nitrogen cycle...I'd continue to cure them until they stop making loads of detritus. Just clean them off once a week or so until they stop making the stuff (swishing and/or scrubbing as necessary). I'd suggest doing this without lights since the lighting will just encourage algae growth....which will just prevent all that detritus from being released.

This whole process may take a couple monthes and may be done in buckets or inside your tank if your tank can do without lights for awhile.
