best way to keep live sand live ?

We have about 60 gallons of live sand that we want to keep alive until the new sumps are all setup and operational and ready to accept it as our RDSB (3 weeks or so). Would it be possible to keep it in 2 large Brute trashcans with powerheads circulating water ? That would make the bottom portion quite anareobic, but would it have any major bearing on "life" within the sand ? and since it will hopefully be for less than a month, will that have any noticeable overall affect on the sand, etc ?

Thanks :)

something like that sounds like a good idea to help avoid anaerobis areas... but I wonder what sort of a pump we would need for a reverse under gravel system with 30 or so gallons of LS ? (in each of 2 brute cans) :)

In order to avoid such a large depth and anaerobic area, I would use a cheap children's' plastic pool. The only problem is I dont know where you can get one this time of year.

we are tracking down one or more rubbermaid troughs for this purpose.. hopefully we will be able to secure one for this use soon :)

Tom, if I were you I'd just save the top half (where most of the life is) then just wash and dry up the rest until your ready. Stirring up the deep sand bed is just bad news. And while your at it look up plenum, you just might wanna do something like that if you plan to continue using sand beds.
