Best way to level a stand edge

I have a commercial stand (pine) for a rimmed aquarium with just a slight ~1mm hump in the middle of one edge. Given my other experiences with commercial stands, I feel this one is close enough to perfect to fix myself.

Is sanding the best way to take this down, or something like a block plane?

If it's a hump sand it with a block sander. Go by hand and use a level the same length as the aquarium.

If you need to fill a hole there are some good products you can use but I often just use strong wood glue mixed with sawdust as a filler then sand flat.

Excellent, thanks. I'm almost positive it is a hump since the corners of the stand are all square but the rear corners of the tank are slightly elevated when on the stand.
