best way to measure chemicals

what is the best way to measure out chemicals. I have been stealing the wifes measuring spoons, for kalk mostly. Is this the best way or should i look into something like a digital scale. Looking at spice measuring spoons as well, due to the shape i can scrape the measure level, for a more consistant scoop.
This also comes up as esv salt requires measure and the scale might be a good idea for that to.:wavehand:

It really depends on what you're measuring, and for what purpose. Some dry granular/pelleted/flake chems vary more in density thatn others. Besides that, some applications don't require a lot of accuracy.

For kalk, it has a relatively uniform density, but since you're wanting to make a saturated sol'n, it may not matter too much, and measuring cups/spoons work fine. Some prefer to add a large excess to aid with precipitation of impurities.

For measuring salt mix, an inexpensive postage scale can work just fine too. :)

For measurements by volume, a decent set of measuring spoons and cups should be fine. No need to irritate your wife by borrowing hers. :) Does the ESV require a scale? If not, you could stick to volume. I bought a small scale for some projects, but it's not needed for most hobbyist products.
