Best way to place zoanthids?

I have a number of zoanthid frags that I've never secured to any of the rock work in my main tank. I've attempted to glue the frags to larger rocks with super gel glue without much success.

Any better ideas or recommendarions?

Thanks!
Jeff

Are the frags free floating, or are they attached to some sort of substrate or rock? If they are indeed attached to rock or substrate, it should be very easy to attached them with a simple dab of reef safe glue and pressing firmly to a piece of live rock. Make sure the surface are dried with a piece of papaer towel.

If the frags are free flaoting with nothing attached to their surface, just find a piece of rock with a crevice in it. Press the soft frag into the crevice, then wrap a piece of thread between the polyps and around the rock. One loop top to bottom and one loop left to right will secure it. Knot the thread on the underside of the rock. After 10 days to 2 weeks it should be attached and you can remove the thread with scissors or a razor blade. If doing the later, do not place the frag in an extremly strong current as it will prevent it from naturally attaching on its own.

Thanks MUCHO.

I think the main issue is drying the rock surfaces before attempting to glue. I was hoping that I could avoid disturbing my rock work, but it appears to be necessary.

Have I got that right?

once the zoa grow they will spread passed the rock frag they are on connecting the entire colony to the rock underneath this has happenend with my oldest one, have had that one for about 2 months. now i am unable to move the frag to another location, so in time they will connect to the rock you have placed them on. until then try not to disturbe them too much.

When gluing spacers with small colonies/frags, you have to be pretty liberal with the super glue gel. I attach sps colonies (fairly large ones) to my main rockwork with the gel, but I use almost an entire tube (depending on the size of the colony) and my arm almost goes numb from holding it in place until it sets enough to let go;). If you can find a way to make the frag/small colony sit in place almost by itself before gluing, the process is much easier. I glue everything:).

If your frag is mounted on a small piece of substrate, you can always use underwater epoxy. I've been using aquamend from HD with no problems
