Best way to treat sensitive fish with copper?

Hello everyone!

This is actually my second real ich outbreak, but this time, I have more sensitive fish in my aquarium.

I have 2 percula clowns, 1 longnose hawkfish, and 1 coral beauty dwarf angel. The coral beauty just recently came down with ich, and has had it for about 3 days.

I have a quarantine set up and cycling with a sponge from my tank. I am using fresh RO water and salt mix, and it is a bare bottom tank with PVC for hiding places.

My question is, if I were to treat with a copper based medicine such as Cupramine from Seachem, would the Coral Beauty be affected to the point of death?

hyposalinity is your best bet, you will also have to remove all fish from the display tank for "atleast" 6 weeks to ensure that the ich dies off in there.

I have had really good success using seachem cupramine on all types of fish including a coral beauty. In fact, I was long a believer on hyposalinty and now don't use it. I just treat with cupramine it seems to be much more effective. I only lower salinity to ease stress.

You should note that I am using cupramine not any other product. There are differences in some products. You also need to be sure to follow the cupramine instructions with regard to not using any other medications while you are treating.

I've treated many dwarf angels with Cupramine (vensustus, multibarr, coloni, flame, multicolor, potters, hybrids, etc.) with no issues whatsoever. I only use Cupramine now.

Thanks everyone!

So far, all of the parasite has dropped off the coral beauty and is in the sand, so I'm going to take out all of the fish now, and observe all of them for any ich or other disease.

If there is copper, I have had experience treating sensitive FW fish by slowly raising the dose of copper little bit by little bit.
