Bi Color Angel and Zoa's

Hi all, I recently acquired a 120G long which came choked full of Beautiful live rock with a ton of GSP/Xenia and some other soft corals like mushrooms and leathers. Anyhow, I combined my smaller reef tank into this tank. I had about 8 frags of z's/p's that where doing beautifully in my smaller tank. Most of the frags probably doubled in polyp count in the last few months.

So, I moved my frags into this bigger tank once I set it back up and it cleared out and temp stabilized etc.

Problem is, only 1 of my zoa frags is opening. I got perfect water chemistry and flow is sufficient. All of my gsp and the other corals are opening / displaying properly...

SO I began to wonder if the frags where being bothered by something else,,,then I stumbled upon articles saying Bi Color angels are great at irritating zoo's and making them close. This new tank came with a Bi-color angel who is a beauty... I'm just worried it maybe destructive for my corals. I prefer corals so...

Do you guys think I should give the z's more time to acclimate? They've only been in the tank, under new lights (kessils a360w's on 35% intensity for acclimation) since sunday. Or should I ditch the Bi-Color ?

Thnks!

I'd also like to add, that since I have had the z/p's in with the Bi Color I haven't directly noticed him/her nipping at the polyps.... It grazes on the algae on the frag plugs, but I have never seen the fish bite a polyp.

I would give them a little more time to acclimate to the new lighting. That being said, it definitely could be the angel and I would continue to monitor that. Good luck.

I have a pair in a 90, same observations as you, They don't touch the zoo's or anything else, just pick at algae, they eat pellets just fine.

I used to have a bicolor before i got a new tank and honestly it was one of the prettiest fish in the tank and was awesome. Never bother zoas or any corals except my acans(which is why he had to go) never heard of a problem with zoas though. Good luck!

historically angels never been good IMO with soft corals or LPS. I wouldn't put one again in my tank, I've had various mini angels... and baby large angels before. They all end up going to town on your Z's and P's one day, even though they don't for months or years, they just turn one day.

FWIW and IME I have a Flame that nips at nothing I have. Leaves LPS, SPS, and Z/P alone. Birdsnests, Stylos, Acans, Hammer etc.

These are very much a "your mileage may very" type of fish
