Hey everyone -
So I did a lot of research about this already...and i guess im just looking for some other opinions and two cents from people. I have a Bi-color angel (dwarf) in my 30 fowlr right now, and i want to transfer him into my reef tank SO badly...bad idea? let me know! thanks guys!

Im just nervous, I heard as long as algae growth is in the tank that there is alot less "picking" at the corals...but im not too sure what to do! haha

I've thought of getting semi-cured or uncured liverock which would be encrusted with live "bio-crud". This would keep dwarfys busy with picking on other than corals.

yeah i bought fully cured live rock for mine, and it has plenty of algae growth. now that ive bought my angel...all i have been hearing are horror stories about these dying though...now im nervous! although hes going on 2 days strong.

The guy who owns our LFS has had one in his reef tank for about 6 months with no problems. Good Luck.

Thanks! I just hope this isn't too much bio-load in my tank, i have a 20 long with 2 clowns and this 1 angel...but i am moving them all into a 30 in august

There are 2 dwarf angels that I will never put in a reef tank -- and a bi-color is one of them (( Lemonpeel is the other )) -- and I have always had dwarfs in my reef tanks. Also, I would personally wouldn't keep a bi-color in a 20 -- reef or not.

Bingo!!! I've seen BiColors around 4" before. A 20g is just too small for these guys. Perhaps a pygmy cherub (Centropyge argi) would be a better choice.

I could not agree more. In any case, any dwarf angel is a roll of the dice.

thanks guys, im either going to move him into the 30 or just try and sell him back...but i would really hate to put the fish through all of that stress. so one last question...hes about 2.5'' at the most...is a 30 too small??

I personally would not put any dwarf angel in a 30 gallon. That is even pushing it for a pygmy angel. Make sure that it has alot of rock work to swim around and pick at. Also make sure it is your last addition. Our pygmy angel is very aggressive and will attack something twice her size. We have had to remove fish from the tank or she would have killed them.

I am going to roll the dice on a bi-color angel. I have a 55 gallon and a mix of SPS, LPS, polyps, and a lot of florida ricordeas. I have always wanted a bi-color and and willing to risk the entire tank just to own one.
