Bicolor Angels

What is everyone's experience with Fiji Collected Bicolor Angels? I recently purchased one that's about 3 1/2 inches in length and what has everyone used to get them feeding?

Well I'm Australian and no-one here has any trouble with them. Then again the collectors on the GBR are probably the word's best. I would get an Australian caught one.

Hi! I personally had back luck in the past with bi color angels.both times from Fiji....the first one lived 30 days...and the second one almost 2 months...I could never get them to eat......I tried PE Mysis...Cyclopeez....live brine shimp....but nothing worked. So that was a few years ago...after trying twice I gave up on that beautiful fish. Maybe others with better luck can chime in.....good luck with your fish. Make sure you have plenty of algae sheets for it to graze on...lots of live rock...and hiding places with peaceful tank mates!

Over the years I've had 4 bicolors. 2 did wonderfully, 2 did horribly. The two that did well had been at the store for roughly one month, and ate a variety of foods. The other two were recent imports, never ate anything, and slowly withered away. They are also prone to flukes.

The key is getting a healthy specimen to begin with. I had a few that never made it through my QT. The one that did make it through readily ate mysis from the get go. Would always hide, but did come out to eat. Never liked nori. Then after he made it into the DT, was a completely different fish. Picked on the live rock all day long and bossed all the other fish in the tank around. Eats nori like a champ now too. It's been over a year and is still doing fine.

I do not, but I got it from nyaquatic.

I have had some trouble with his fish eating that I purchase. If you start getting worried, go to your local supermarket and get some fresh clams and put in their and see if he will eat that. I've had good success with fresh clams. Key with the Bicolor is almost finding one that is already eating. Once they are eating they are pretty hardy. Some people label them as beginner fish which I don't think so, more like moderate b/c they can be a challenge to get eating.

I never had them myself, but got a pair for a friend. They did well in his tank. Getting them to eat was definitely not an issue.
They actually started spawning within a month.

I have a bi-color and it normally ignores food I add to the tank. Sometimes will go after some meaty stuff I add but only smaller pieces. Seems to like LRS frozen.

But usually its just constantly grazing everywhere. My other two dwarf angels are the same. I must have enough microfauna they like for them to ignore mostly what I put in and to have survived well over a year now.

Bi-color, flame, and a coral beauty.

we get these in to our LFS regularly and have always ate well. I personally have never had trouble getting one to eat. im not sure where our supplier gets them from i would have to ask tomorrow
