If you think about it, it comes out to 20 bills per frag. That's not bad. Especially for acans where you can get caught up in a bidding war. I forgot the name of that top purple acan was. I was bidding on a similar one--they go for about 25 bills per head at an lfs

I am usually careful where i bid on eBay though. There are only a couple of vendors I buy from. Make sure they arive healthy and take pics of them right away--alive or dead.

yeah thanks deehz, i figured i never really like much at the lfs. and even if i do just one sps frag cost me $40 $50 or $60, so in the long run this is way better.

that is sweet! I was thinking about doing the same thing last night. I will do it eventually. now I want more chalices and some acans. now I have to take a long hard look @ my tank a figure out what coral I am willing to part with so I can make room for the new stuff.

you got a great deal for all of those frags.

Yeap. Ebay has great selection on all corals. If you want it, someone is selling it.

The downfall is that it can get more expensive then buying at an lfs. Plus, you dont get the human interaction. There were several sps/Lps and sea fans I was bidding on. The people that were bidding on them were just driving the prices way up.

if you dont bid just to bid or win, know your limit, set budget, and combine shipping or get the once you spend over so much free shipping way. then there is no way it should be more expensive than a lfs.

also wheres the best placement for chalice's, it looks like they are not as light hungry as sps? but if i decide to move them down the line, how hard is it to take them off the rock if they grow over it ????

i hear that if you try to feed them directly often they can produce heads pretty fast.
The chalice or acans? Chalice are more filter feeders then acans. My acans that i have, have quadrupled in amount of heads over the past few months. I target feed them when I feed everyone in the tank and they are happy. Remember, acans do not like extreme to high lighting. They need to be placed on the bottom sand bed to lower 2/3rds of the tank. They don't like a lot of flow either. They are hardy animals though.

This also depends on the species of chalice. Not all SPS require high lighting, flow, or placement. They are pretty different from species to specie. Same goes with chalice. And yes, they are pretty hard to take off once they have attached themselves to a rock.

thanks deehz. yeah i meant the acans, anything special you feed ?? thinking about getting oyster feast soon since im adding up the sps also.

I get my Rods food and some frozen mysid shrimp with marine snow. Blend it all together and target feed just about everyone. The meaty treats always go to the fish and Lps corals. 24 frags?! Wow! Thats a ton of epoxy!

So I figured I would bring this thread back up to see what the growth was on these pieces but I just realized that pedro no longer has any acans. Pedro please post a pic of the birdsnest now and then. who ended up with the acans? jcan you please post pics of the acans now?
