Big Al's Online

Anyone order through this company?

Customer service good, recommend it?

There prices seem too good to believe on some items.

They have a lot of locations here in Canada. They are the 'superstore' style store here for reef. They have a bad reputation among aquariasts for many reasons and are very expensive compared to the smaller stores. But they do have teh biggest selection of equipment and dry goods around.

I'm sure they are credible online and if the prices seem good to you then go for it. Biggest criticism is that they are pricey and their staff in stores (like any big-box style store...) are under educated. They sell a lot of outdated systems like PC lighting and bioballs (etc)

I have ordered from them at least 3 times and I am happy. Prices are more reasonable. Just make sure you compare apples to apples when ordering from them, they may have a different model or something.

I've ordered from them many times. The prices are reasonable, but they don't tend to have the high-end equipment. Shipping can seem painfully slow.

I have ordered from them in the past and also shopped in their store, they seem to lack knowledge in up-to-date reefing and equipment.
A much better store I have used is JL Aquatics, fast delivery, good selection and good knowledge base, their instore is clean and all specimens appear quite healthy. Prices are also better.

I have been In the store and Its unreal, Its so big when purchaseing a fish you have to get an clip board right down all that you want and turn It back In at the desk. Next they call you and you go with the staff to get your fish. The place Is crazy BIG!

I made a order and had great service. everything I ordered was shipped fast and came in perfect. I would deffinetly use them again.

I ordered from them once... Stuff took like 2 weeks. They are on east coast though.. Im in cali. But still..

Sounds a little normal to me. It took 4 or 5 days for me to receive my 48'' light bulbs and they were shipped from Canada. I guess it also depends on what time of day you place your order and when the order is processed and shipped out.

Being a fellow citizen of the gummi world I agree that Canadian Big Al's is way too expensive to buy from!!
It's so much cheaper to buy from a wide variety of internet companies on-line. ( If you are willing to wait for your delivery)
Otherwise go spend the money at the store for instant gradifacation!! That's usally what I end up doing anyways!!! :D
I want it now!:eek1:
Also what is WRONG WITH PC's Mr. Gummi??????
I have 400 watts of PC's over my tank and seems good to me!
All livestock is doing well thank you very much! Not all things are out of date as quick as you think they are!! Unless you are a salesperson tring to sell the new and improved model!! LOL:D

Swim well all..

I have used BigAls extensively for my FW tanks, but as far as SW, I agree with Raider. I have used my LFS for my big SW tank. I am lucky though to have ReefChief as a LFS. But back to BigAls, their customer service does leave a lot of room for improvement, but overall I have been satisfied with everything I have purchased from them.

I have used BigAls several times and have never had a problem with them. I think they used to have a thing where you earned double points on wednesday's. I tried that once, and put in a big order on a wednesday and it took a couple days before I got the confirmation email that it had been shipped out. I'm sure they get swamped with orders on that day and it takes a couple days for them to get caught up. Soooo, it's probably just according to when you put in your order as to when it'll get shipped out. Any other time I've ordered from them, it's gotten shipped out the next day and I've usually gotten it in about 5 days, and I live in east tn.
