Looks like a sick batfish at that, cloudy eye and all. Owner doesn't even know what kind of fish are in the tank... That's reassuring

That is a sick batfish. Does not look remotely like an angel. Restaurant tanks are often poorly maintained. Very sad.
 
I was simply astonished at the pure size of the fish. It is clear thats it's sick as I said to the owner at a resturant.. who as you Said, he was not concerned and yes its rather sad...don't disagree there...again I've never seen any of these fish this big before.
 
Straight up nasty looking tank. Poor fish.

Makes me wonder how the kitchen looks.

Appearances are everything.
 
Love seeing all the large tanks when we visit Vegas. Kind of reminds you how large these fish can get, especially some of the tangs.

Some of the Sohals I've seen there have steamers longer than my largest fish haha
 
Batfish and Shadefish are both members of the same family, Ephippidae. My P. orbicularis had a bout of flukes once and the eyes got somewhat clouded over, but nothing to that extent.
