Big enough refugium to make a difference?

hello
I have a Red Sea reefer 350 which is a 75 gallon tank and 18 gallon sump. I have a small 3 gallon aquarium in my sump and wanted to know if it's enough to make even the smallest of a positive difference to my system. I have a bubble magus 7 which is rated for 125 gallons. If my refugium isn't going to help much I can use the space for reactors in the near future.
I have a Home Depot set up clamp on with 6500 k fluorescent bulb.

It should have a positive impact on the tank. It probably comes down more to what you are trying to accomplish. I'm assuming you are trying to export nutrients in which case I would go with something different. Many of our members here have had great success with ATS systems. They are arguably the best nutrient export tool in the hobby. Here is a link to the ATS thread in case you are interested in going that direction.

Should I eliminate it and maybe look into some reactors in the near future to utilize the space??

In my opinion ATS > Reactors but to each their own many have been successful with either setup.

I shoot for at least 10% of the display tank volume for it to make a difference.
The most efficient setup IMO is a ball of cheato under high powered, low kelvin lighting. Nothing else in the fuge. No substrate or rock or anything.
I had a 150w HPS lamp over mine and it was crazy growth. My nutrients were always too low.
