Hey all,
I have a tank to rebuild, and I need silicone. I'm not going to chance it with the GE stuff, I want real aquarium silicone. I do not want to do this job again.
The tank is pretty big, 110 gallons, so I don't want the little 3 OZ tubes, I want the caulk gun size. Does anyone know if anyplace on the Island stocks it?

No luck with PSP. They say that they sell it, they just don't have any.

Too bad you can't get Don to answer his phone. I'm not driving from Baldwin to Coram in the hopes that he has it in stock.

If your not worried about doing it today, Les or any other store can order it from the local wholesaler.

I found it online for about $6.00/tube. I can order it myself. The thing is, my vacation is over tomorrow :(

can you also use the marine silicone that West Marine supplies?

The reason for using "aquarium silicone" is that there are no mildew inhibitors (arsenic) added. I would expect anything for a boat to be about the same as that for your bathroom. They add something to it, for some reason, that makes it unsuitable for a fish tank.
Many people claim to be doing fine with GE II pure silicone, but I'm doing all this because I suspect my Rubbermaid sump to be leaching something into my system. I don't want to take any chances.

thanks Larry....I am glad you started this thread because I was thinking about using the west marine stuff as you can get it in a huge tube. so much for that.....

Better safe than sorry. I know I don't want to have to cut this tank apart again.
