Bigger skimmer section or bigger return section.

Hi RC. I have attached a picture of my ridiculous sump design. The way it is now there is zero flow going through the sump and I have decided to take out one small baffle and one large one but can't decide what side to remove.

What do you guys think? And will the sump still be functional if I remove them? I want to place a large rock from my other tank into my sump. Should I have it in the return section or skimmer section?

you need to make sure that the water level in the skimmer section stays the same. You don't want that level to change.
