Bio Balls OR Dsb ??

barks

New member
hi all,

im new here, ive been out of the hobby for 2/3 years, but im getting a new setup together and nearly finished just got to sort out drilling the tank.
anyway it seams to me that the main difference in the hobby is the wide spread use of dsb's.
could we have any thoughts of the pros and cons of bio ball v's dsb or if you are running both??
if this has been done already can someone link me there.

You will find that the use of bio balls is basically non existent now. DSB's are a fine choice that I have employed for years with a fuge, live rock, good skimmer, and high flow. All thease elemts combined have made for excellent success in my tanks.

Recently, I have gone BB and this has been wonderful with the addition of vodka dosing. So, as you can see there are many ways to have success!
Bio balls, though, I would not recommend :(

You asked a similar question below. Please do some reading in the beginner and general discussion forums. You will find tons of info on DSBs, shallow sand bed, barebottom etc.
This isn't an advanced topic forum question.
