Bio Cube Owner's Thread

Where can I get hinges/screws for a BC29 hood? The one I purchased used does not have them and I am unable to flip the hood up so it can stay in upright position. Really frustrating for me. Any help/directions would be great.

Thanks

I bought two hinges from Home Depot and instead of using screws i bought the heavy duty velcro to attach the hinges to the tank cover to prevent rust.

have you tried emailing the manufacturer..

Has any of you found a way to keep fish out of the back (sump) area? I was missing a clownfish for a ~week. last night I went to clean the skimmer and saw the missing fish swimming in a very small area next to the skimmer. I am surprised it was still alive.

I can I prevent this?

Happened to me. Had to cut a piece of flexible plastic to form a wall between water and filter side.

Heres a pic of my 29g its been set up now for about 3months but had everything in 2 tanks before and combined them, well heres just a quick pic of what it looks like.

OK. I need some opinions. I'm ready to make a jump in my lighting. Right now, I have the stock 72W PC hood on my BC 29. I'm thinking of upgrading to either the Current SunPod 150W 14,000K HQI (20") or the Current Nova Extreme Pro T-5 108W 10,000K plus Actinics (20"). Bottom line - My color is too dull. I only have 2 SPS (pocillopora) the rest is softies or LPS. What does everyone think? Any better suggestions than the two I mentioned?

T5HO.

Why?

They run a little cooler than MH. MH has heat dispersed over a small area, where-as T5HO has the heat spreading along the tank.

More bulb colors to choose from (really, really blue, pink, purple, etc.) and you can make up your own color(s) by mixing and matching bulbs.

PAR - It has been shown that T5HO, with good reflectors has more PAR than MH. So this means better colors and faster growth.

Here's mine

Here's mine

Throw me in the mix..

Its a 29g Biocube. Ditched the hood for an Aqualight Pro (150w 14k HQI). On the back is a CPR Aquafuge PS (the one with built in skimmer) lots of rubble rock, sand, and macro in there. Chamber 1 has the return from the fuge. Chamber 2 has a JBJ 5w UV Sterilizer, heather, and carbon. Chamber three is the return pump (maxijet 1200) and skimmer pump to fuge.

I have my own thread if you want to see the rest of the tank details.

Does anyone else has the aquafuge on back? I'm having trouble with water flow from the DT into chamber 1. This is a combo problem of high water level and being that the return is in chamber 1. Does anyone have a solution for this?
