Bio-diverse material (Live Sand) FREE

Ok boys and girls I had a guy take down his tank and bring in some live sand today.

Good live sand to help cycle a new tank, or add bio-diverse material to a pre-existing one. Those who participated in the last material grab were not disappointed.

Free for LOCAL pickup ONLY, bring something to transport a few cups in, take as much as you need. You can not take the bucket as he wants it back I know nothing else about it, just hate to see good material get thrown away when it can be used.

I stopped by and got some yesterday, because I needed to add to my already existing sand bed. I discovered something pretty cool when adding it to my tank, and thought I'd share.

I started by sucking up the new sand with my turkey baster to add it to the tank. When I put the baster down in the tank all the nice white sand came out of the end, but the grey water stayed in the ball of the baster. When the sand ran out I was able to discard all the grey water w/o it getting into my tank. And this method also allowed me to add the sand w/o it clouding up my tank water. I also added some to the refuge with no mess. (And, yes, I did have to keep adding tank water to the sand so it would suck up into the baster.) I suppose this is not practical when added bags of sand, but to add just a bit, it worked great.

I picked up some today. It must be pretty good stuff. I've noticed an explosion of asternia stars already.
