wanted to know I have in my sump marine pure block bio media ,and sera siporrax ,and seachem matrix,

my question is
Is there such a thing as too much bio media ?

If running passive, I completely agree, it simply extends your bio filtration, sort of mimicking live rock. The trend in Europe seems to be at minimum, 1 liter of media for every 100 liters of water. Careful though, when using in a reactor, it can be quite efficient, I went from 10ppm to 0.00 ppm in 3 days when I move my media from a passive mesh bag to a fluidized reactor. While many think this is a good thing, it was not, this began a dino bloom, that almost wiped me out. I could not get the nitrates up even tripling my feeding regime, I ultimately went back to passive. My media is pumice, by AF Life Bio Fil.
