Bio Pellet slime/gel question

I have a Reef Octopus 140 Bio Pellet Reactor. It has been running for around 4-6 months, and now the pellets are clumped together with a clear slime/gel around them. My question is do I need to clean them or replace the pellets? They are hardly moving around do to the amount of gel on them.

i have the same reactor and i run a very high flow through it. pellets are always tumbling and never clog or clump.
i would dump the media personally coz if it dont look right to me i start fresh. thats just me. and $50 is not worth for me taking a chance with a $50k tank.
