Bio Pellets not moving

Just got my Reef Octopus BR70 bio pellet reactor and a MJ1200 to power it. I put 500ml of BRS pellets in it. Hooked it all up but the pellets aren't moving. I've read multiple people say its not necessary and some that say it is. So what's the deal?

Not enough flow, I don't think an MJ1200 can make 500ml of bio pellets tumble but I might be wrong. I could also be air is trapping them together, or they are just sticking because they are new. Fill it with water and shake it to get them lose. 500ml sound a lot to start, how big is your tank and what skimmer are you using? What are your nitrate and phosphate levels?

I'm using a R.O. NWB150. It's also brand new. Last time I tested my no3 it was 40ppm. I don't have a phosphate test right now.

Would an Aquaclear70 be enough? Do you think I should take half out?

Is it absolutely necessary that they tumble?

Would an Aquaclear70 be enough? Never used one, but maybe try it if you have it. I would do a manifold from the return pump to feed the reactor. It will also save electricity and less equipment in the tank. Do you think I should take half out? I would, how big is the tank? 50 is not that bad and you don't want to shock the tank if you have corals or starve them.

Is it absolutely necessary that they tumble? Yes

I don't think they absolutely must tumble, long before there were designated reactors people successfully ran them in a mesh bag and canister filters and they still worked. I run mine in the bottom of a canister filter where they do not tumble and they still keep my nutrients in check. What is important is that they have oxygen, water flow is the way to do this. I agree that you are running way too many. I use about half a cup for approx. 130 gallons of water volume. Start small and add as needed, too many at the beginning is a recipe for disaster.

In the process of building a manifold. Thanks for the help. I was looking for a way to clear some space in the sump:)
