bio-wheels?

in my research for reefs i decided i dont want any bio-wheels (or powerfilters for that matter) on my reef because they are a nitrate trap. i was given an 80 gallon tank (bottom cracked) that im gonna set up as a terraium. with this tank came a huge powerfilter. i've had it hooked up on my 10 gallon mantis tank, with out the bio-wheels. the little spray bars create a lot of micro bubbles and noise though.

should i add the bio-wheels back or is there a way to turn the spray bars off?

i also plan on keeping some shrooms and zoos and anything else i find that lives with less than optimal light. i have a 75w 6500k flourescent from home depot (im very happy with, BTW) and may add an actinic to it.

what should i do?

The only problems with the bio-wheels are when you do not clean them or when you do clean them running them under tap water. Cleaning under tap water kills all the bacteria on it. (Good and Bad) I clean my bio-wheels with the water I remove from my water changes. I just shake it around till the gunk falls off in the water I have pulled from the tank.
