Biocube Runaround

Well, its been three days now since one of my ballasts for my 29 Biocube stopped working properly. Im really fed up with Oceanic Systems because i've made several phone calls as well as written an e - mail and still have yet to be helped. The damn woman on the phone always transfers me to warranty no matter what i say and i always get a voicemail (customer service at its finest). Anyways im not exactly sure whats wrong one ballast will power each light in each socket but the other will not power either light but the fan will activate if i use it. And actually it has turned on the light a few times but only momentarily. Does anyone know where i can get help...? And also i've been considering ditching the top all together and getting a 20 inch Sunpod 150W fixture, has anyone done this, and do you know of anyway i could keep a closed top, because i have cats.

Check with nanotuners.com and see if they have or can order a spare ballast for you. They mod bio cubes, and provide excellent service, so I'm sure they can help in some way. As to a cover to keep the cats out, you can either cut a glass top to fit leaving the rear chambers open (or cover it if you prefer), or use egg crate cut to fit (does decrease light to tank though), or, there are several really nice threads here on building a cover using plastic mesh attached to a frame. I have a 24 AP, and have decided to lose the stock hood. I have a Sunpod 150W arriving next Tuesday. Good luck whichever choice you make.

Wait about a week before you do anything. I have e-mailed them about some questions that I had about the low water levels in chambers 2 and 3 and it took about a week to get a response. I read another thread about a problem someone had with a fan and I think it took him about a week and he actually received a replacement in the mail.

jrizzle Did they want your ballet back ? I also have a Bio Cube and am kind of interested on what the ballast look like inside, most ballast are fairly easy to repair. I really didn't want to open one that was working. Is their any way you could open the one that went out and take a picture.

Thanks Mark
