biopellets in a bag or net

hey there. after a move i start to see algae on the glass and sand, i used to dose vodka but got a bad cyano outbreak so i decided to discontinue after moving.

i want to battle the nutrients, and have this bag of pellets lying around. money and time have not yet permitted the acquisition of a pellet reactor and selfconstruction will take some more time.

as the pellet bag states that you can also put them in a net or bag and toss them in a high flow area, i thought about this, used the search function and already got a micron sock from my gf.
but nothing turned up in the search so please ... tell me your ideas about this or even the eventual experience!

yes a buddy just uses a couple of socks and seems to work for him. i would start on vinegar though or as well. the pellets in a reactor work for my nits and phos. i always seem to keep a little cyano so i started vinegar with the pellets
