BioPellets

Keep on going. Results may take a bit to be obvious. Keep an eye on your skimmer as its load should start dramatically increasing.
already on that one i thought i skimmed dry well i was wrong lol. so retuned and so want that precision marine for 125G but wife says i gotta wait a bit for the money...dang her! lol.

I'm using BRS biopellets in a home made reactor fed with a maxi jet 600.
I'm going to put it in the first chamber of my sump.

I will also dose with ZeoBak.

I hope to have it online tonight!

nice i got mine in the BRS dual reactor and nothing else so we will see what happens as well i see no new growth i think, i cleaned an infested zoa patch so ill use that as my new growth meter, poor things at least it wasnt over ran though. i so think i need an MP40 lol. why u gonna use zeobak? just starting out?

No, my tank's been up for ~7 years. The Zeobak will accelerate the bacteria population and might also help to diversify the strains in my tank.

I also used (yes, it's online now!) ~175ml of pellets for my 120gal, which is ~1/3 the recommended amount, as it's easier to add more in a few weeks if I don't see a change. I'd rather err on the side of caution and take it slowly since this is a new dosing method.

i couldnt stand it anymore i went at my rock with a brush while in the tank and turned on the carbon filter with the micron filter to help suck all the stuff i let loose in the tank. also discovered my new goby was dead, how sad he was even chewed on, wonder if my anemone got him. dont know what killed him but i can think of many culprits that ate his carcass. sad thing is i didnt even notice an ammonia spike or anything spike during my test when i got home. tank looks cleaner now though lol. i hate hair algae.......

I'm really sorry to hear about your Goby!

Without patience and a tolerance for biology you are going to have a really rough ride. You are about a week into your biopellet experiment, and you didn't learn much of anything from it because you didn't wait out the process.

lol i didnt touch the rock that is my experiment 'show' piece only the other rocks and the xenia base where it was touching my xenia. still your right though, not about the rough ride, just the no patience for my results.

as promised day 7 of the experimental rock and i can see progress but as with everything saltwater its too damn slow for me lol.

This may be a stupid question, however. is your skimmer still working properly? A skimmer alone should pull out enough nutrients to prevent a major algae bloom.

since my upgrade no its not its undersized for my current water volume. thought it would handle the upgrade but i was mistaken, so saving up the money for a skimmer upgrade but it is working overtime with the new biopellets.

Me too!!!! I've been looking for a new/used tank for over a year. I need to replace my protein skimmer and also want to get two media reactors to run carbon and gfo. I finally found a tank that I am going to purchase this weekend. Now I get to buy a skimmer, reactors and looking into led lights. I also have had the same algae problem and solved it temporarily with a sea hare. It cleaned it up great. The sea hare died once it was all gone and it came back again. I'll be looking to see how your tank shapes up. Good luck!
