BioSpira added...does it work?

So i dosed dt and qt with dr tims ammonia and added bio spira.

Reading the label of the bio spira it says you can add fish after adding the bio spira.... this seems like it can't be true to me....

does anyone have any experience with biospira either positive or negative?

Technically yes. Many add fish to uncycled qt's and monitor ammonia and perform water changes upon detection. Instead of just adding fish I would still be patient for a week or two. Just ghost feed the tanks as if there were a fish in the system and monitor ammonia, nitrite and nitrates. I wouldn't add a fish until I saw nitrates, IME, you likely won't get an ammonia or nitrite reading, but I would still test in case the bottle was bad.

Totally agree...if there is any chance that ammonia is in the system you'll be punishing the fish. I dosed dr. Tim's ammonia too after my cycle was over according to the test kit. Used the ammonia to bump the system to 2ppm, then monitored, the tank converted it in less than one day. This is a great way to monitor your bacteria amount and determine how efficient it can handle a bio load...

Unfortunately cycling requires much patience and it's the first thing ya do so it can be tough, but it's the foundation of your system. If you start out with a weak foundation you'll probably end up with a weak house.

I had good luck with BioSpira when setting up an emergency QT tank. I had a couple of weeks to ghost feed, which got the ammonia up, and after adding the BioSpira, the ammonia was back down and never came back.

That said, I would never trust putting fish in without daily monitoring and having Prime and new saltwater on hand just in case.

It worked very fast for me. I was 3 weeks into a cycle with no nitrite readings yet, added biospira out of curiousity, next day I had nitrites and nitrates. 2 days Later completely cycled.

I've put fish into QT 2 days after adding BioSpira.

Of all the bacterias I've tried (about 10), it seems to work the best.

Also I add SeaChem stability everyday during QT. Could have helped out...
