Birdsnest is fusing at the bases.

Most BN I see are branchy, mine is sort of forming a solid base.

Does yours do the same?

Thanks, I don't think it's the flow. That coral in the pic grew from a tiny piece that broke off my larger colony (almost as big as a basketball). I placed it in the middle of the tank, it is sheltered from the strong current. The mother colony has a lattice-like interior.

As mine grew from a frag, it grew very braching at first, but now that it's getting up to ~3.5" across, there are more and more places that it's fusing.

Very interesting that yours is growing that way, it's a very cool growth form.

I have seen so many different growth patterns on this coral. I think it has do to with a variety of combinations. Lighting, flow, if it was moved, how it was fragged etc.

Mine at one point began to twist, and would also branch up and down. I fragged this coral at least 30 times.

Could there be at least two different subclass of this coral? It would be nice to get a frag of mine and a frag of yours and grow them side by side and see if they will assume the same pattern of growth. You want to?

I actually sold this colony when I moved and the guy killed it...
