bit by fish

My bicolor blenny, bit me a few times on my arm while cleaning glass a couple days ago. There is a bump and damn thing itches bad. Any suggestions or just calamin lotion?

My longhorn cowfish got me inside my elbow a few days ago while attaching corals. I have a welt and bruise with a tiny break in the skin. I washed it well with soap the used neosporin. If it itches, I'd use cortisone. Just watch for infection, I ended up in the hospital after cutting my finger on my rock.

Jeff-it sounds like it is infected and you need to see a doctor!!! Same thing happened to me but it was a spider bite. After a few days, a large area of my arm was getting red. When I went to the doctor, she had to make an incision into my arm and cut out a bunch of dead necrotic tissue and was put on antibiotics.

The only fish in my tank that has stones enough to come close anytime I have my arm in there is a tiny little chromis. Of all the six fish in my tank, the chromis might be the "toughest" one in there.

+1 doctor. Bicolor blennies are a mouth brooding fish. By that I mean, they lay eggs and rear the fry in their mouth. When given the opportunity, they will bite another fish or animal to deposit the eggs, resulting in a sore spot or a bump that grows. Inside the fry gather their nutrients from the host's bloodstream. When they are ready they will burst out and wiggle free. Single blennies have been known to spawn asexually as a survival mechanism. It's all on wikipedia.

I'd be worried if it is swelling and itchy. The ointments might make it feel better but it may come back. Try it out and if it does come back go see a doc brother. Hope you it goes away Jeff but don't let it just slide by.

You may be the first person to captive breed Bicolors! You could make millions.

lol at this thread

Exactly like bot flies! But you can sell them, keep your arm submerged in salt water for 4-6 weeks just in case.

Been keeping arm soaking in reef water, doing frequent water changes. Keeping plenty of flow in the tub. Keeping a turbo snail on it to suck out the venom. Lol
All good now just a little bump

So that is where my spidey sense is coming from and all itchy.

How have you been, how is your sister and brother? I see them once in a while by Kelly's house.

This is why I tell people keep hands out the tank. I'll stick my hand in FW but I'm not fooling around with SW.
