I noticed today that my SCH had stopped working. From the looks of the skimmer neck it stopped not more than a day or 2 ago.

I clean it about once a month and I tried removing it and cleaning it but no change. I checked the voltage at the power connection and it reads 12 v (so power is OK). It makes no noise when powered.

Question; what is the warranty on these; this was like the 1st one sold in the states which should give an idea when I got it?

Hi Ken, was this the BK version, or the regular AquaDriver version. Also, did you purchase this from us? I'm trying to find it in our system.

Thanks,
Jeremy

This is the BK version but I didn't purchase from here; I just found the receipt; sorry, wrong forum.

For the benefit of the thread readers...

All better; as it was out of warranty I figured what the harm in taking the unit apart and found that the gear-box has jammed up. There was a slight amount of surface rust (the kind you get in humid environments) on the surface of the gears; not a lot but apparently just enough to cause the motor to jam (and thus blow the fuse).<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I bit of hydrochloric acid (aka; rust remover), a soak in hydraulic fluid and a spray-down with WD-40 and it is happily cleaning again.

Hi Ken,

This is not nice. The best way to solve this problem is to clean the gear careful with a corrosion protection oil. What you have done is 100% ok.!

A good protection idea is to cover the 12VDC connector with a normal aquaristic sucker like in the picture. The last cleaners have this little protector as a standart.

I hope I could help!

Best regards from Germany

Carsten
