Thanks guys. I hate the that pile of rock look also. I wanted a lot of open space and wanted to make sure the overflow was covered.
The rock turned out really great. Even after doing all the research I had some doubts about it working like it should. I still need to create a how to tutorial for those that want to make their own rock. It took me a couple of months to read through the clutter of information out there.

Depends on which species of Asterina you actually have, there are over 30 described in the genus. They're almost impossible to distinguish. Chances are good its a benign species but its not 100%. Read this...

Last night I made a Biopellet Reactor. here is a video of it running.

It's a recirculating reactor. I used an only RODI canister for the main body. The feed is coming from my main pump via a 1/4" line. I'm utilizing a MJ 1200 for the circulation inside of the reactor. I didn't install any flow control on it but from the turbulence it looks like I have to do this very soon. This is filled with 500ml of BRS pellets.

Made some improvements to the Biopellet reactor a few minutes ago.
I added a ball valve to the output side of the MJ 1200 to controll the re circulation in the reactor.
I also added a cone shape to the bottom of the reactor. I saw this on the octopus models and liked the idea. This will eliminate any pellets from settling on the bottom by forcing them to fall into the outlet of the MJ 1200. I basically took a 2L bottle and cut the top off of it. Wedged it in the bottom and that's it. If the dlope is not enough I'll try a pointier 1L bottle.

The flow with the mods looks a lot better. Is it too strong still?
