BK's 110 Gallon Build

All of the water parameters tested in the correct ranges so I tossed in a couple of shrimp this morning to get the cycle going.

Never mind: Bought all new test kits and all the parameters are off. I mean wayyyyy off. Instant Ocean Salt does not equal instant ocean!!

Parematars----Recomendation-----Mine
Calcium------- 380-450 ppm------ 340 ppm-------Will fix with two part
Alkalinity------ 7-11 dKH----------5 dKH----------Will fix with two part
Salinity--------sg = 1.026---------sg = 1.026-----Got this one right
Temperature-- 76-83° F---------- 77F------------Got this one right
pH------------8.1-8.5------------ 9.2------------Will fix with Vinegar drip
Magnesium--- 1250-1350 ppm-----780------------Will fix with two part

Lesson learned: DON'T USE OLD AND EXPIRED TEST KITS!!!

Home made two part is wonderful:

Took me two tries but I finally built the ATO tank. The 1st one was simply too large to slide in place with all of the stuff in the way. This one is a little shorter but a little deeper front to back. Had to cut out a section where the return plumbing is on the right side to be able to squeeze it behind the pipes. It was a tight fit. 12 gallons should give me about 7 to 10 days of top off water. Maybe even 12 days if the evaporation stays like it has been for the last week.

Simple symphony line from the tank to a float switch in a "fancy" acrylic holder.

if you ever want to go bigger on skimmer i have vertex 180 gen3 model sittin in basement. See you have vertex 100 gen2 in pic

Looks Great! With your sump that full you might want to worry if you lose power and you start to back siphon from the output nozzle in the tank, A simply check valve on your return line would save you.
