The yellow/brown dots are diatoms. This means my circle is well on its way.

Now the diatoms are covering most of the rock and sand. Should I just let it be or should I do something about it. I understand they should disappear on their own. When? Should I kill the lights to help the process move along or will that just slow it down? My nitrates are testing at 5.

Time for a update!

I added a few frags to the tank. 5 out of 6 frags are doing great. The Zoanthids are doing great but I did kill the birds nest frag. I suspect it was because I was manually dosing and the Alk swings were too harsh on it. I also added a yellow tang, and a clown fish.

To fix the issues with the dosing I bought a marine magic triple doser. I'm hoping this will keep my Alk stable. So far it's good. Steady at 12. I'm going to attempt to lower it to 9 or 10 dkH so I'm not overdosing...

The last thing I added is my version of a home made version of the BRS GFO and Carbon reactor. I had my old RODI so I decided to try it since it seemed like a straight forward design.

I'm going to try to use the 3rd chamber as a sulfur denitrator since the lines are too small to run bio pellets and I don't want to drill holes into the chamber itself. 1st I have to find 1/3# of sulfur somewhere. I don't want to buy 10# since I won't need that much.

Yes the cheato lived and actually doubled in size. I was surprised. I did add the GFO now so we'll see what happens.

Good to hear. GFO has been my saving grace so far I think. If it wasnt for the low phos when I had my trate spike I know I wouldve gotten some bad algae.
