Black Bandit ANgelfish

It could be that the bump is not a problem and is just looking like a growing bump as the abdominal area around it gets thinner. Having said that, I agree with treating him with a broad spectrum antibiotic just to be safe.
Hang in there, it sounds like you know what you're doing and it can take a while for the larger bandits to settle in and eat.

Thanks :)

Should I still try to feed it while I give it antibiotics?

JNC914 not saying they or not that high in some stores Im just saying I have seen 3-5 inch Bandits much cheaper the 1800 what it comes down to is what one is willing to pay for a fish lets just leave it at that. LOL

That price is inline for the fish. Just got one myself. Being treated at pet store with prazzii now. I have a large one in my large reef this one will go in my 180.

So here is an update:

The pelvic fin is infected and shows some blood pushing and there are lumps around the skull and dorsal fin.

I think this bugger is a goner tbh.

Years ago, we struggled with keeping bandeds in good condition after collection. About 30% would develop whitish lumps around their head as well as reddish streaks on their fins and bodies. We figured this was brought about from a lapse in their immune system due to the stresses of collection. It took a bit of experimenting, but we were able to develop a preemptive treatment regimen that brought these problems down to zero occurrence.

That is interesting

Unfortunately there is still at least one Hawaiian diver that doesn't share your concern for the health of the Bandit once collected. I dealt with the white lumps, red streak condition when I first started keeping Bandits back in
'08-'09. I had only known of a handful of fish keepers that were able to get their hands on a Bandit prior to 2006. It was more of a chore to get them healthy then it was to get them to eat. Out of three Bandits that I was originally sent, all either were sent with those health issues or they eventually came down with it. I was only able to keep one alive long term. The other two that had the white lumps declined in health, stopped eating, and the lumps would eventually rupture leading to more infection and then death. The ones that Matt Ross sent me were extremely healthy. The one I recently received from Diver's Den, which I assume you collected, was also spotless. I have also seen other Bandits you have collected that looked pristine.

Keep up the great work!

Agreed. I've seen the white bumps that later ulcerate. If caught early, they can be treated. I used antifungals and antibacterials concurrently.

that is what i am experiencing !!!!!

Could you tell me how you handle this?? Could you kindly shot me a PM? The bandit is currently in Antibiotic treatment as of yesterday.

Rufus. I have one of yours now. Looks great. , second pep also. Bur the other pep is not happy. Had to divide them. I think if you left the fish with a male instead of karen maybe it would be tougher lol. That one is very docile. I hope one day they will be able to live together. Wondering what you see in the wild on these. How far apart do they live .?

I think you're right! When the two peps came to me the one you have was the more dominant. Three weeks in my care and it's a pushover and a wussy! :lolspin:
I am what I am but I didn't think it would rub of on the fish! lol:spin2:
