Black Brittle Star

I bought a black brittle star a few weeks ago. I did not read anything on the internet that said that they were predators, however, someone I spoke to over the phone said that they eat your fish at night sometime . Has anyone had any experience with that. I don't have any fish in the tank yet, but I want to get rid of it if it's going to be a problem. Thanks.

I've had more problems with my fish eating my brittle stars.

Generally, it's not a problem. While most of them will resort to hunting if they have to, they would much prefer to stick to free handouts. As long as you keep them fed it's generally not a problem. The one exception is O. incrassata, the green brittle star, which will still go hunting even in some cases where it's well fed.

I took him out, and the LFS (Absoultely Fish, Clifton, NJ) agreed to give me store credit for it. I just don't want to risk it. I bought a pipefish this weekend, and it is a slow as molasses. It's an easy meal for anything that gets hungry.

I had a green brittle and though it was well fed i still ended up missing a couple green chromis. I got rid of it.
