Black clown X maroon clown.

I don't even know if this is possible but could the two of these even work together? A black clown and a maroon? Any ideas of any types that would work best to make this work?

I agree with Steve and the maroon will more than likely kill the black. What is inspiring you to think of this mix?

While it is possiable, your chances are very, very slim getting them to pair. I wouldnt try it as you will most likely end up with the maroon in the end.

If you're talking about the black & white ocellaris, they're not from the same Genus. The likelyhood of them being physically able to spawn is very low.

Reason being is actually part of the reason I was thinking it may not even work. I love how large the maroons can get but also love the coloring of the black. Is there a type of black that would work best in anyone's mind? Would it work well to get a large black and then get an almost baby maroon and see if they would be okay then?

Ocellaris and Premnas have been done before. Look up Mai Tai clown or ORA blood orange. I know several breeders that have successfully paired maroons with other genus. Most recently lightning maroons. Go for it, not sure b&w has been done. I'm pretty sure percula hasn't.

That's good to know. I got to thinking after I posted that that the different genus is mainly because of the spiny cheeks. Not necessarily that they were significantly different. Since the cross has been done before, it obviously can be done.

I agree, it can be done. Your best bet would be to try a black and white female with a maroon male. The other way around will likely have the female maroon killing the black and white. I tried twice to pair my lightning maroon and both times I've lost the male, maroons can difficult to pair from my experience. My parents have a female occy paired with a male maroon and they get along just fine. They have not bred but then again the conditions are less than ideal since they aren't trying to get them to breed.

Agree with going with the maroon male, maroon female will surely kill the male
