I was wondering I have a 40 gallon breeder would it be possible to add a black true perc. to my existing system. I have two false, one is about an inch long and the other is about an three quarters of an inch.

The black perc I'm wanting to get is about one and a half inches long.

Is it a yay or nay? Should I get an even number of clowns?

thanks guys and ladies

I'm assuming you mean a black ocellaris. Black true percs don't exist.
Anyway, I think it would be asking for trouble adding it to an already established pair of ocellaris. How big is your tank.

40 gallon breeder. I don't think they are a pair yet. Good question how do I know if they are "paired"? with one 7" (fully expanded) lta.

Are they being aggressive to each other. Do they sleep together (in the LTA), is one larger than the other. How long have you had them.

they sleep in the lta. one is slighly larger like a quarter of an inch larger. they aren't agressive towards each other. I've had them for almost about 3 months.

Must agree. Maybe in a much larger tank, but in a 40, the chances that the clowns would run into each other and fight is much too high.

A lot of on-line vendors refer to them as "true black percs", but you are correct. Never ceases to amaze me how effective a marketing gimmick the word "true" is, when it comes to clownfish in general. Who wants a "false perc" when they can have a "true perc".

Sorry - felt like ranting for some reason :D
