Finally hosting mushrooms!!! Lol but still its something!!!!! image.jpg

Congrats!

It is a common mistake, but clowns don't host, they associate. The anemone, coral, or object is the host. :)

Lol well I'm glad u knew what I ment!!!:) I'm just soo excited!! Lol and the bigger clown has been in the mushroom all day lol

I have had my clowns nesting in a wide variety of items. GSP, Xenia, Mushrooms, Clams, Frogspawn and other Euphyllia...

My breeding pair live in a 75 gallon reef, full of coral and LR and no other fish. They live in an ugly flower pot. If I remove the pot, they will live for days at the top corner of the tank and won't move at all. Put the pot in, they are happy again....

They are odd critters.

HAHA that is awesome!! yeah mine were living in a corner at night ans just swimming around during the day.. that other night was first time i saw them in it.. and then during the day the female is in the muchroom and wont let the male in.. but he will swim close to the mushroom, but the female is behind the mushroom beside the rock.. lol it rubs on the back part of the muchroom, i guess it likes that feeling..

that first night the mushrooms were like.. WHATS GOING ON! and they were closing up, curling up.. but now they are open and love them in there.. lol (the mushrooms were hosting clowns in the LFS (they were right beside the anemones so they got some clown loving there as well so they are sorta ust to it i guess..)

so i plan on putting a anemone in there on the same rock.. (its a big rock..) but below, and maybe they will notice the anemone as well as the mushrooms.. :)

Every clown I've had in my 10 gallon (I've swaped clowns in and out of tanks) have lived in the xenia colony, just this current pair (Wyoming whites) has a rbta as an option and the dominant one has moved in.

one of my onyx hosts a rbta and the other just doesn't have the instinct to host! just hangs around, and if he gets startled he goes to a corner! (maybe he is hosting the corner of the tank) jk!

My clowns love the mushroom and my new other clowns loove their anemone!! And then my third set of clowns.. Percs don't host their anemone yet... Lol
