Black clowns laying eggs.

My black clowns are laying finally and are pretty hostile towards their tank mates. What are my chances to pull them and put in a different tank and keep them laying?

If you do it then move them with the eggs & you have a better chance of keeping them spawning. My blacks will spawn about 5 or 6 times & then stop for 6 months or longer.

I just noticed the nest tonight and they have eaten most of it. I saw some eyes so it was almost ready to hatch. The rock is pretty big and their nem is on it as well. I only have a spare 15g cube on a different system and don't want to kick up a cycle in that tank with the rock and I dont have the support light for the nem either.

The first batch or two are generally best to let go. So take the time to set up that dedicated broodstock tank properly ;)

Oh yes I have been down this road before... I just re-built my fish room and still setting things up... I will be ready this time around!

Well I had a hatch on Friday night, small but still managed to use my snagger to pull about 1/2 the nest. Which was about 50 or so. I remember the days of pulling nests of 400+ every 2 weeks in the snagger. I changed the way I started the larvae tank. I just used tank water at the same temp in a separate tank, used a black 2 gal. bucket inside a heated water tank with an airstone on low. No rots and no green water for 24hrs. Introduced rots then green water slowly and it has really made the difference.
