Black Egg Crate

I understand there is a certain spraypaint you can use that is reef safe and sticks well onto the regular white egg crate you can pick up at HD.

lol....not if you are using it to cover the tank to keep jumpers in.

Very true. I would prefer the black eggcrate for that.

i bought the regular white egg crate and painted it with krylon fusion black paint it looks great but it def. absorbs the light..

If your going to put the eggcrate over the top of the aquarium I think it's better to use white eggcrate for better light reflection. Black imo looks better but would block more of the light then the white. I have also seen a mirror type eggcrate, but still not as reflective as white.

I didnt put it under my light, if you looked down on my tank it looks lke a sandwhich.

eggcrate
light
eggcrate

the light has like plexiglass or w/e on it so it is not open to the water, and I put the eggcrate on either side of it so it doesnt block out any light :-)

home depot carries egg crate w/ mirror finish. i don't think it is safe for the water though. i think the film would come off
