Black Friday Deals

If you search around on BRS, most the door busters were listed a few days before they were announced. So if you "need" something look around and it may all ready be a "door buster" but not announced yet.

I just got about 6 months worth of ROX, GFO, and DI resin from BRS. I also ordered a bunch of PVC fittings. I recently ordered a Jebao 12000lph DC pump to replace my current return, and run all of my reactors off of a manifold.

Do you think it's a good idea to wait for cyber Monday for best deals? I'm new to reefing and buying everything, trying to save as much as possible.

49.99 red sea coral pro salt brs, limit 3, over 175$ shipps for free and no cali tax! Just stocked up on a couple months worth!

Depends on the place. Some sites just post a straight discount. Some will do a specific discount on certain things. Its hard to say if the exact product you would want go on the discount, but at these prices it would still be a good deal + free shipping. Nows the time to buy imo.

Anything 20% or higher that's on my list gets bought WITHOUT hesitation.

However if I have to fill out forms, clip receipts and parts of the box and mail them off I don't bother. *Cough Ecotech cough* as more then I few times I have done that only to never receive a rebate. (Bait and switch)

Anything between 10% to 15% off I'll buy if it's something I need soon anyway but I wouldn't break the bank on something in that price range that's a" maybe" or" if it breaks I'll get one of those" items.

The BRS vertex skimmers so far have been the star holiday items if you ask me. The Tunze 3155 for $169 and two part dosing pumps for $49 run a close second.

I would love to see some quality reactors bundled with pumps for 20% off and the avast marine or reef octopus waste collectors at 20% off. Hint Hint....

BRS has the vertex reactor kit thing for $100 off both packages. Sorry don't know the name of top of my head.

Edit: the zeolite reactor kits. 1.5l for 199$ and 3.0l for 299$ both over $100 off

So 16% off at Premium Aquatics is the best site wide sale that I can find. Applies to the Tunze pump I'm looking for. Unless someone has seen better I guess they'll get my paycheck.

So, went to BRS to order and had $169 in my cart last night and this morning the same stuff was $189 - the 15% BF discount disappeared with only the "preferred reefer" discount.

Went to Premium Aquatics to place an order and their "TURKEY16" discount came up with $15.21 off of a $275 order (5% not 16%). WTH?

Anyone else having issues with these sites?

So, haven't ordered anything yet...

It is now working for me. Impressed they responded to my e-mail in < 30 minutes. Apparently there have been some sporadic issues with the discount being applied. I am going to order while it is working!

BRS: Code 10SRHG for $10 off a $99 purchase. Confirmed that the codes work on Ecotech stuff, as I just bought another MP40wES (saved $15 total by using this code and the $5 off code on a BRS eGift card applied to the order). :)

If you want to order right now just shoot me over an email to jeremy@premiumaquatics.com with your order number after it's placed and I'll make sure the discount code applies correctly to your order.

I have seen the wholesale price list. The markup on most items is huge. Even without seeing those prices, you can see how much BRS charges for things compared to the LFS...

I'm not sure what list you have looked at, but one of my very good friends is a wholesaler, and while there is significant mark-up on things such as live rock, fish and corals, items and 'hot' sellers like Ecotech and APEX see a 5-10% markup. Certain items might be marked up a little more, but retail stores are not the ones to blame for the pricing, and they definitely are not running to the bank with cash. It also doesn't help that the vast majority of companies in this trade enforce MAP pricing which is ridiculous but thats another conversation. Even if a reseller wanted to give a discount on special event days like Black Friday, their MAP pricing agreement won't allow them to sell below a certain price (which is usually the price they are selling the item for anyways).
