Looks like it may be just a heavy use of contrast in the picture. The fingering coral down below between the toadstools and clams almost looks like it has black polyps!
I thought the pic was adjusted to, but Ed has been told it is indeed a blue hammer, from a reliable source. If one of them turns up i'd love to see it, that is amazing.

Once again, look at the background!!!! If we could see one that is in a tank with normal colors it would greatly help the believability of the coral existing. Why are there no open tank shots showing one of these? I have asked a lot of the major collectors I know, shop owners, ect. and they all seem to say VERY doubtful. If they are real then there should be full tank pictures where the colors look normal and the frogspawn is blue and black.
I actually saw one today at Exotic. Only a 3" piece of flesh was left on the skeleton and it's obvius that it's been there for a while. The colors had faded but the right person and tank could easiely revive it. I almost got it but the wife would have killed me. Whats left of the flesh was in great shape with no other issues present.
I was at Kalypso in Lodi this morning and they in fact had what looked like a Frogspawn that was the same color at the one Ed posted (sort of a black-blue)
That looks like an octopus frog spawn. They are more green than blue though IMO. There is propbably some serious 20K going on there. I still have never seen one that resembled anything close to the one in Ed's picture. As far as what the one KMP posted it is not impressive as far as the color and it is a frogspawn, not a hammer. I had one that resembled it and Sam sold it to me for cheaper because of the color. Black and Blue is awesome in the first picture but some of the others are a bit of a reach. Had that brown and barely blue one been posted this thread would be gone already. Auntbeez, if you go back please take a picture of that hammer as I would love to see it I have seen blue frogspawns before. Justin has a frogspawn that has some green heads and some that have a blue hew. They still are not even close to the one Ed posted.
Justin had a frogspawn. In fact lost all 3 of my euphyllias
That first pic KMP is just a frogspwn(Euphyllia yaeyamaensis), the second pic is indeed the blue hammer ed's lookin for. Just not black and blue like the pic, that second pic is true colors taken with a flash, or day bulb.
