Black ice clowns

Ok so I bought a pair of black ice clowns. At the Lfs they were together like glue one is slightly bigger than the other. So that's good for male female? Now when I put them in the tank they took to my rba withen a day. Know the bigger one will not let the smaller one close, what's up with that? I was thinking one is just showing who's boss or maybe turning into a female because she is bigger!!! Idk. Maybe somebody has delt with this before? I really want a pair or even a bonded pair, what r my chances they will get along? I will get some pics but it's too late and the lights r off.

Moving from one environment to another often breaks up a pairing - usually temporarily. If there are no other clowns in the tank I wouldn't worry about it. They should bond again. If she is changing then she needs to continue to assert her dominance over the smaller one. For them to share during the sexual metamorphosis would be unusual.

As long as they aren't fighting dangerously I'd leave it be and likely they'll be back together soon.

Well that makes me feel better. I just put out alot of doe and traded my regular breeding perc's for these black ice perc's. They do look very good I just didn't want one to kill the other one!!!!!!!

Yeah, its common................my nigripes female won't let the male in the nem during the day but he sneaks in at night. She gets aggressive at feeding time & when it gets near bedtime. I've had them for over a year.

They were both the same size until I added them to the nem & the clown that found the nem first got huge & became the female.

My Picasso pair did the same after moving to the new aquarium. She is just asserting her dominance (as stated by the other members) and should pair back up in time. Like Big E said about his male sneaking back in at night, mine does the same :P Hope this helps lluv24! :)

That's funny she does let him come to the nem when lights r out. Crazy clowns as promised I will get some pics tonight when I get off.

How long it takes for the new clowns to go to the Rose bulbs anemone..?? I just got a pair also.. Just wondering or there's something else I should do..??
Thanks don't forget the pictures.

I tried to upload pics last night but my Internet was down. So I will try today. Also last night the male had to sleep by his self last night:.(

I have two pair of snowflakes and only one pair has taken to their BTA, and did so almost immediately....the other pair has yet to even look at their BTA and it's been about six months...go figure :uhoh3:

As you have been seeing, the female (or at least the more dominate one of the pair if they're still juvis) will usually dominate the nem until she decides to "allow" him to share her pad...
My female has only recently allowed him to share "her" nem during the daytime, but at night......brotha's on his own :lolspin:
