black light?

I notice alot of fish stores have a black light stip over the reef tanks to brighten greens etc. Is this bad? I like the way it looks but I don't want to hurt anything. What is the best way to do this? right now i have 14k halides and daytime and actinic pc's but it doesn't bring out the greens very much.

Are you sure it is black light or blue atinics, But i have read that black light doesn't give of the right spectrum

well I know it doesn't look anything like my blue actinic. It's a purplish color.

Somebody on another forum did an experiment with blacklights a couple years back.
Google "Bang Guy's Latest Experiment" (use the quotations in the search) and you can read about it. Pretty interesting read.
