Black Mushroom?

All,

Discovered this black spot on a piece of live rock. Would not come off when I took a tooth brush to it (outside of the tank, of course). Any thoughts on what this could be?

I get them in black, yellow, red, orange and green. They come and go like a lot of other critters based on food supply and water parameters.

Pink and white as well. A normal part of a healthy system.

Thanks everyone, especially the part about a healthy system. New to this and just upgraded from 45g to 90g. Fish moved a week ago and everything had survived week 1. No drop in fish activity either. Fingers are crossed.
