Hmm, that looks strangly familiar to my avitar :), And to my rose anemone, and to my camera, and to the parents of that clown ...

Actually the pic was taken by an old RC member "casbarian"

Hi guys.Hope I didn't step on anyone's toes by posting that pic.Someone had asked to see a pic of a black onyx clown,so I googled one up.
I'll be more careful in the future.
I have 3 juvi's currently, but I seem to be PC challenged when it comes to posting personal jpeg's.
Oh well,I'd rather do water changes,anyways. ;-)

I can't wait until I get my tank setup....I wasn't planning on spending much on the fish, but if I am only able to keep a couple of fish in my setup, it might be worth splurging a bit to have a pair of those as the centerpiece.....

I have a pair of these, although my male has significantly less black fill-in around his tail. I thought these were just percula clownfish but they are black onyx?

My impression from the reading I've done in the last few hours is that the black onyx ARE Perculas...just a recessive color/pattern trait that has been bread and named....like snowflake, squareflake, picasso, etc. etc. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Yes You are, wrong.
Black onyx clownfish are just what you said a true percula clown, BUT not a genetically breed like the ones you mentioned they are just Percula clownfish from a particular region in this case most common found on Salomon Islands and Papua New Guinea. The black color in most true perculas from that region increase with age, they are born orange white bars and some black and in some clowns the black markings increase as they go older.
