Black or Clear silicone

I am pulling the trigger today on my new 420g but am not sure about silicone color. I have always had clear but so many people get black so was wondering what people think of each. Any pros or cons of each.

Clear is not really that clear it's more descriptive as "cloudy" than "clear". That said from a functional point of view they are the same so it is more about asthetics, for me black just outlines the edges a bit nicer, so all other things being equal I would go with black, but that really is a personal choice

I had clear and went black on my current build. There is no comparison IMO, I love the black! If you don't mind me asking, who's building the tank?

Have tanks with both. One in black one in clear. Black one looks like it was made yesterday, Clear looks like its 10 years old.

Black it is.

AGE is building my tank. Now just have to plan the swap with my 230 and get all of my equipment together but I have 10-12 weeks. I plan on starting a build thread soon.

It depends in my opinion. Black definitely frames the tank which looks like a distraction. But depending on the furniture it's sitting on can work aesthetically. Rimless, forget it, doesn't look right. Also, as the edge wears on the black it stands out like a sore thumb.

I elected to go clear on my tank and have never had algae issues on previous tanks. Low nutrients always solves that problem.

If you have a tank setup with clear silicone now, get some black construction paper and tape the corners to mimic what it would like if it were black silicone. That's what I did. Made my decision very easy.

I would say like mentioned above with black when the edges get nicked up from the magnets and scrapers the imperfections jump out at you. Look into reef savvy's armored seams, I'm sure any builder can do it. I do prefer black though it looks sharper IMHO.
