with all the diff kinds of clowns everyone is breeding has any one grown out any black/orange babies if so what traits do they show

I'm guessing you mean the offspring of an orange occellaris with a black occellaris. Now my guess would be that their offspring would be brown and not as desirable as the original colors. i think they look good together as a pair though.

I would think naked plus darwin might start in that general direction but it would likely take many generations before that happened.

cristosclowns are breeding some really nice ones over at another site. the website is nano - reef. check the classifieds.

They make very un attractive brownish babies unfortunately. Sanjay doesn't have that breeding pair anymore as far as I know. I think one of them died. They made some beautiful babies though.

Love my black photons, and I would not call them brown at all. Clearly black and yellow markings, similar to onyx. They have been great fish. Still a little young but I hope they start a spawn soon.

The question still is not clear. onyx perc+ black occ.= sanjays black photon. reg occ+black occ=brown clown. im guessing when you say orange and black marbled you are talking about onyx clowns which are really just a variation on true percs generally from papua new guinea. if you breed onyx with onyx you get onyx usually. you may not get all that nice black, but fish with different characteristics are selectively bred so there is a higher instance of the unusual desirable trait. a pair of mis bars will be more likely to produce mis bars and eventually, after lots of breeding, sometimes inbreeding, you get something like the naked clowns.

If Im not mistaken, the Nakeds were breed by breeding clowns with smaller baring and smaller baring was created.Till they got to the point where the fish had no bars.

you are correct sir. selective breeding. my post above yours should help explain it, but maybe it was too long.

still have no idea what OP is asking about. this thread has gone all over the place about clown pairs, interesting, but what is the point of this thread again?

Acrodave has your question has been answered? black occ. plus orange occ. seems to yield brown clownfish.

ok maybe you are not getting me or im not getting you.. ok if you have a say black female and a orange male and they spawn. what would the offspring look like. i dont see why they would turn brown they colors are not going to mix like water colors are they? the blacks as juvs. have reg orange spots till they get older. my fem black had a orange face and then turned all balck. now adding more of a orange blood line wont that make more orange stand out or last and not fade or add more black areas on a orange one. or maybe i have no idea what im talkng about?

I talke dwith an ORA worker and they had doen this many years ago and said they got a chocalote coloration.Over all not very appeling IMO.Does that answer your question?

they are not crayons. breeding isnt like mixing crayons look a red fish mated with a blue fish doesnt make a purple fish.
