I have a maroon clown who was picked on a bit and had some damage to his tail. he has started to get black patches on his fins. Is this a disease or scar tissue?

Can you post a pic of your clown?

And are these patches actually on his fins on on his body?

Are they 'holes'?

They are only on his fins which are pretty tattered. I just moved so I do not have a camera here but this weekend I am getting one.

Gregg I hope its ok that I post a pic of one of my clowns. I cant get a good shot (off to the photography forum after this post) but My clowns have both developed small black spots(one clown has 2 the other only 1) on thier bodies. They arnt perfect circles and they dont seem to be bothering either of the two. None of the spots are rasied... its almost just like a change of colour.

Water is 78* (never more then 1* fluctuation)

They both eat like pigs and have shown no sign of eating any less. They've been in my display about 1-1.5 months after a 4 week quarintine. They didnt have the spots in qt, I've only just noticed them in the last few days.

fuzzy... I know

Black spots on the body are usually just stings from whatever they're hosting to (or brush up against). I used to have a pair of false percs a couple years ago that would always get stung from the frogspawn and would always have black spots on their bodies. This is nothing to worry about.

Fins may be different though - I never saw the black spots on their fins.
