Black sand

What do yall think of black sand instead of the usual light colored sand? My sister has a 90 afican chiclid tank with a black background and black rocks, and it looks awesome.... Would it wash out the colors of the fish or enhance them? Bunker

It really brings out the colors in a reef tank, but it is a lot of work to maintain. You will see every little piece of detrius sticking out like a sore thumb.

All in all, if you dont mind the work it looks really nice! You could paint the back of your tank black too.
